The TransOceanic Model Royal 3000 is a nine-band radio, that includes AM, seven shortwave bands, and, for the first time in any TransOceanic, the FM broadcast band. It was introduced in 1963 and manufactured until 1971. This radio is very special to me. When I lived in East Africa, South Asia, and the South Pacific in the late 1970s and early 1980s, it was my link to the world.

1940’s, the movers broke the radio dial. She put it in the upstairs bedroom closet where it stayed for about 40 years. She gave it to me years ago, as she thought I would enjoy fixing it up. It has it’s original high gloss finish in almost like new condition, and pulls in distant stations very well.
